From 11 June to 20 August 2023, Museum Valkenburg presents an exhibition in the upstairs room of the museum by Frans Lemeer, born in Meerssen (1950) and trained in Monumental Design at the Academy of Visual Arts in Maastricht. He was taught, among other things, the design of stained-glass windows. Thick contours, filled with monochrome colors. This technique was important for his further style of painting.

Frans Lemeer is inspired by the idea of a volatile society, of confused people, political errors, distrust, chaos and an uncertain future, combined with a light-hearted touch and supplemented with his own fantasies. Other themes are: history in the broadest sense of the word and backgrounds of religion. He also likes to add a touch of humor and surrealism to his work, which offers a unique perspective on the challenges and diverse problems of contemporary society.

With his art, Frans tries to capture the essence of the rapidly changing world in which we live and to reflect stimulatingly on the complexity of modern life. His works often contain vibrant colors, intricate patterns and intricate details that invite the viewer to explore the many layers of meaning lurking beneath the surface.

Lemeer’s art testifies to the power of creativity and imagination to meet the challenges of our time and to gain new insights into the world around us.

His exhibition “Mirror of time” will be opened on Sunday, June 11, 2023 at 3 p.m. and can be seen in the upper room of Museum Valkenburg until August 20.
