Multidimensional art from June 21 to August 2, 2020 in the Jacques Vonk room of Museum Valkenburg

The Maastricht artist Peter Slegers (1962) obtained his diploma in drawing / crafts at the Moller Institute Tilburg. Peter has a passion for authentic art. In recent years he has created works inspired by paintings by artists such as Degas, Manet and Rembrandt. These works were tailored to the original. In these multi-dimensional works, the characteristics of his painting, in combination with video images and sound projections, led to a completely new experience of art. At the invitation of Museum Valkenburg, Peter exhibits in the Jacques Vonk room with a whole new multi-dimensional project, inspired by “The Last Supper” by Leonardo da Vinci.

Regarding his recent project, Peter himself says: “I have done extensive research into the work of Leonardo and his motives. I studied the original in the Santa Maria Delle Grazie chapel in Milan. Many elements in The Last Supper fascinate me such as astro-theological references, the application of the “golden section” and especially the use of imagination. I perform my interpretation of Leonardo’s work with figures of full size, on a canvas of 650 x 250 cm. I invite visitors “at the table” to experience the work in a multi-dimensional way, with the aim of stimulating all the senses. ”

Museum Valkenburg and Peter Slegers therefore invite you to come and participate in this interactive, multidimensional experiment with art, video, sound and scent.
