Museum Valkenburg is currently showing an exhibition with work by painter and draftsman Harrie Bartels (1936-2015). Bartels lived for a long time with his family in Rothem (municipality of Meerssen). He sought and found inspiration in his own garden, among other things. An impressive chestnut tree stood at the beginning of that garden. Harrie painted the tree in all seasons. One tree four times different in color and shape. We think these four works are wonderful. The painting that depicts spring makes us long for this season.

The exhibition ‘Homage to Harrie Bartels’ can be seen until April 13, 2020, look here for more information about this exhibition: https://www.museumvalkenburg.nl/en/agenda/homage-to-harrie-bartels/
